Startup Winemakers: A Wine Scribes Spotlight Series

Updated November 2022

Learn about the next generation of winemakers

The world of winemaking is difficult to compete in. There are tens of thousands of established brands with a larger customer following, mature distribution agreements, massive technical experience and deep pockets. So how do new brands even compete?

This was the inception and mission for Wine Scribes: find and locate the best small mom and pop winemakers in every wine region. Share the data with the wine community. Give a boost to the said small winemakers.

Meet the Startup Winemakers

Through our travel and industry experience, we’ve been lucky enough to meet many emerging winemakers starting their own label; often working in other more established wineries side-by-side their full time job. Finding out about these small lot production batches can be difficult and often word of mouth–we’re here to shed some light on some to keep your eye on.

We’ve selected five winemakers from around the United States — all of whom we’ve met personally and tasted their wines. This summer we’ll be releasing one interview at a time. We’re excited to let these five young winemakers share their story.
