About Wine Scribes
Wine Scribes is a wine and travel guide built on firsthand experience — not press releases. Since 2019, we’ve been visiting wine regions around the world, seeking out the small-batch producers making exceptional wine by hand and writing the guides we wished existed when we started traveling for wine.
We started Wine Scribes because the internet had plenty of content about famous estates with big tasting rooms and bigger marketing budgets, but almost nothing useful about the smaller producers doing the most interesting work. Those winemakers deserve a spotlight, and their wines deserve to be found.
Who We Are
Jesse is a winemaker with a degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis. He’s made wine at four wineries across three continents — Yarra Valley in Australia, Burgundy, Santa Cruz Mountains in California, and Columbia Gorge in Washington. He writes from a production perspective that most wine bloggers can’t, because he’s actually done the work in the cellar.
Cassie holds her WSET Level 2 certification with Distinction from the Napa Valley Wine Academy and has studied food and wine in Italy. She handles the editorial direction, food pairing content, and the quiz library that’s become one of the most-used WSET study resources online.
Together, we’re producing wine under our own label, Vespera Cellars, with fruit from the Columbia River Gorge and Portugal’s Douro Valley.
What We Do
We’ve visited over 30 wine regions across six continents. Every guide on this site comes from personal experience — we’ve driven the roads, tasted the wines, and eaten at the restaurants we recommend. Wine Scribes combines those travel guides with winemaker interviews, wine education articles, and the largest free collection of WSET practice exams online.
If you’re planning a wine trip, studying for an exam, or just want to learn more about what’s in your glass, we built this for you.
